About LayoffReady
Free, pattern-based interview preparation for software engineers.
LayoffReady helps you prepare for coding and design interviews pattern by pattern. It was built for engineers who suddenly find themselves back on the job market, often after a layoff, and need a clear, fast plan instead of a thousand open tabs.
Why we built it
Layoffs rarely come with notice. One week you are shipping features, the next you are rebuilding a resume and facing coding rounds you have not practised in years. Most prep material is either scattered across many sites or locked behind a subscription. LayoffReady puts the essentials in one calm, free place, so you can spend your energy on practising and applying.
What you'll find here
- Curated DSA tracks. Problems grouped by pattern (two pointers, sliding window, dynamic programming and more), with a short track for quick revision and longer ones for deep preparation.
- Brute force → better → optimal. Every coding problem walks from the simplest correct idea to the optimal solution, with the intuition, complexity, a dry run and tested Java code.
- Pattern guides and cheat sheets. The instinct behind each pattern, a reusable template, and quick revision sheets for Java syntax, SQL, Git, CS fundamentals, system design and OOP.
- Design interviews. System design walkthroughs (requirements, estimates, architecture, trade-offs) and low-level/object-oriented design with clean Java implementations.
- Study tools. Progress tracking, a revision list, personal notes, keyboard shortcuts and light/dark themes. Everything is saved privately in your browser.
How the content is made
Every Java solution is compiled and run against a set of test cases before it is published, and every SQL example in the cheat sheets is executed against sample data. Problem statements are written in our own words, and links to the original platforms are provided for practice. Where we learned from or adapted other people's work, we say so on the Acknowledgments and Licenses pages, both linked from the footer of every page.
Who it is for
Freshers preparing for their first placement, experienced engineers switching jobs, and anyone returning to interviews after a break. If you have one week, start with the cheat sheets and Blind 75. If you have a few months, work through Pattern Wise 150 and the system design guides.
